WARSAW-Kulczyk Silverstein Properties has purchased two historic office buildings here, one at Malachowskiego Square and one on Mazowiecka Street, from Hochtief Development Poland. The two buildings, which will total about 200,000 square feet when renovations are complete, are part of a $666 million joint venture.

Kulczyk Real Estate Holding and New York City-based Silverstein Properties, run by World Trade Center developer Larry Silverstein, formed the venture last year to buy and build in Poland. This is the second transaction by the venture after the acquisition of the Stratos Office Center one year ago.

The Malachowskiego Square building, near the Victoria Hotel, was designed by Jan Heurich and built in 1910 to house the library and art collection of the Krasinski family. However, during the construction, the building was acquired by Count Edward Raczyński who decided to use it as an elegant urban tenement house with a store situated on the ground floor. Following World War II, the building was converted into the headquarters of the Polish Post Office. This building will hold offices, with a new building constructed next door, totaling 82,000 square feet. The renovation will be completed in mid-2014.
