Obamacare isn't too popular with some of the leaders of the retail industry. The National Retail Federation certainly wasn't happy, calling the Supreme Court's decision last month supports a law that "wrongly focuses more on penalizing employers and the private sector than reducing health costs."
The Retail Industry Leaders Association's VP of government affairs says that retailers will likely "find themselves over regulated and unable to continue to offer the quality, affordable health coverage their employees enjoy."
Whether or not these things may be the case, there could be some good to come out of it: More customers for certain large chains.
In anticipation of 30 million more people being insured and a lack of facilities to take care of them, the Los Angeles Times reports that a growing number of chains are adding health clinics to their stores. Among those outfits are: CVS and Target.
Sure, we're not talking about chains that have a lack of customers right now, but if people are walking into the stores to use a health clinic, chances are they will also end up buying something. Like potato chips. To celebrate good blood-pressure results.
