NEW YORK CITY-Ernst & Young LLP is promoting several executives from within its Construction and Real Estate Advisory Services practice, appointing E&Y veterans Mark Gibson and Josh Herrenkohl to key leadership Los Angeles and New York, GlobeSt.com has learned. Gibson will manage the practice in the Western US, and Herrenkohl will head up E&Y’s CREAS operations for the East Coast from Manhattan.

The partners will succeed Mark Costello, who recently assumed the role of global leader of E&Y’s Real Estate Advisory Services, as reported by GlobeSt.com last month.

In his new role, Herrenkohl—who has more than 16 years of experience in the commercial real estate and technology consulting sectors—will continue to help real estate and construction clients assess and implement leading practice processes, reporting structures, controls and technologies. He has previously worked with Capgemini and the Government of Japan before rejoining E&Y in 2004. During his time back at E&Y, Herrenkohl has risen quickly through the ranks; he was promoted last year to assume responsibility for the group’s real estate investor services team.

On his new position, he comments, “Companies today are increasingly looking to build real estate and construction platforms that are able to weather the risks associated with today’s uncertain market dynamics. I look forward to co-leading Ernst & Young LLP’s CREAS team and continuing to build on a strong legacy of assisting companies with this objective.”

As a professor and commercial real estate professional, Gibson teaches operations and project management at New York University and international development at Columbia University. He is also qualified as a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and holds the Project Management Professional qualification. He will be based in Irvine, CA.

“As co-leader of the practice, I look forward to building off our reputation as the market leader in construction and real estate advisory services and further expanding our client base here in the west,” Gibson says.

E&Y’s CREAS practice advises a wide array of clients in the corporate, healthcare, oil and gas, energy and real estate sectors, as well as large public institutions, in large-scale capital projects, business process improvement and outsourcing as well as other real estate-related issues.
