DETROIT-Michael Gerard, a longtime Detroit-area broker, has been promoted to president of Los Angeles-based CBRE’s Central Division. He will oversee a geographic region with more than 25 offices in nine states.
Gerard has served as the company’s chief learning officer since early 2011. Andrea Lipton, corporate director of learning and development, has been promoted to VP and will run CBRE University and other educational programs.
Gerard has an automotive background, and led CBRE’s Automotive Properties Group, which expanded the programs that the company offers to auto dealers and others in the vehicle industry. He had been EVP and managing director with Grubb & Ellis, but joined CBRE in 2005 as managing director of the company’s Detroit office. Throughout his career, he’s closed more than 990 lease and sale transactions.
“Mike is a highly accomplished professional who has both a deep understanding of our business and our culture of continuous improvement and excellence in client service,” said Cal Frese, CBRE’s CEO of the Americas. “Mike has routinely distinguished himself as one of our strongest and most effective leaders, and we are pleased to have him leading our Central Division.”
