MONTVALE, NJ–With the first Wegmans Supermarket in Bergen County as an anchor, a 25-acre pedestrian-friendly development called The Shoppes at DePiero Farm is destined to become a retail mecca in highly affluent northern Bergen County, according to the leasing agent.
Brian S. Silbert, president of Silbert Realty & Management, tells GlobeSt.com that the project is a “can’t miss,” since it is set in Montvale, surrounded by high-income households, corporate headquarters, and just three miles south of the New York state border. The project still requires formal local approvals – but Silbert says the developers plan to break ground by spring.
“This is an extraordinarily beautiful area,” says Silbert about the setting on acreage that is currently part of the DePiero family farm and farm market. “The architectural firm RTKL has designed a spectacular addition to the county with The Shoppes, including extensive pedestrian walkways and gazebos, a plaza situated behind the municipal building and down the street from the Mercedes headquarters.”
The developers for the project are the DePiero family, long-time owners of the property who have told city planners they will continue a reduced farming operation, and The S. Hekemian Group. Their joint venture is known as Montvale Development Associates.
