NEW YORK CITY-Menicucci, Villa & Associates—one of Staten Island’s go-to law firms for residential real estate matters—is expanding its reach into the commercial space. The Victory Boulevard-based firm has hired attorney Michael M. Amtzis to head its commercial real estate department, effective after Labor Day.
Known locally for his legal expertise and knowledge of the Island’s real estate market, Amtzis honed his legal skills for 30 years at Lee & Amtzis, a firm in the Westerleigh section of the borough he operated until 2011 with attorney and land developer R. Randy Lee. The practice was devoted almost entirely to owners, developers, home builders and mortgage lenders throughout Manhattan, the outer-boroughs and New Jersey.
An expert in both fields, Amtzis specializes in residential and commercial matters, including the preparation of offering plans for condominiums, associations and conversions, as well as acquisition, refinancing and debt reorganizations. He has also worked extensively in all aspects of land acquisition and financing related to affordable housing with agengies like the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the New York City Economic Development Corp.
Now, Amtzis tells GlobeSt.com that he intends to expand Menicucci Villa’s commercial offerings. “They are very strong in the residential real estate practice, representing lenders, representing builders, but I think they want to go more in the commercial area – like shopping centers, landlord work and things of that nature,” he says. “The main thing they want to bring me in for is commercial banking work that they haven’t been doing.”
