LOS ANGELES-Having launched in nine cities, HonestBuildings.com has added Los Angeles to the list of cities covered by its platform, offering free information on more than 200,000 local commercial and mixed-use buildings. The search engine aims to find and connect real estate professionals with detailed information on buildings, companies and other professionals for their commercial real estate needs.

The firm behind Honest Buildings was founded by Riggs Kubiak, former global head of sustainability for Tishman Speyer, and marketing and Internet veterans Garrett Kubiak and Cody Roberts; it is co-located in New York City and Seattle.

A company spokesperson tells Globest.com, “Our ultimate goal is to be the leader when it comes to finding the best buildings, companies and people in real estate. That’s going to help you make much smarter and faster real estate decisions and be a tool to help you compare all these things.”

In addition to providing information on the buildings—such as pictures, age, square footage, ownership and management, projects and renovations, ENERGYSTAR ratings and more—Honest Buildings is layered with features that offer information about the people behind the buildings: the designer, architect, builder, broker, tenants, etc. “We really think that we’ve created something quite original and extremely valuable to the real estate world,” the spokesperson continues. “Our network becomes a business-development or marketing tool the way LinkedIn is.”

Members are also allowed to run RFQs for their open projects. “Because we have all this information, we’re able to match up owners or managers with open projects. They can find the best possible service providers for that project and then can look them up online.”

When launching, Honest Buildings brings city governments and agencies on board to use the platforms, as well as brokerage firms, architects and others involved in commercial real estate. Information is available for close to 750,000 buildings in cities including New York; Washington, DC; Seattle; Austin; Dallas; Houston; Portland, OR; and L.A. The firm is planning to launch its first international city platform for London by the end of the year, and is looking to expand into other regions as well.

“Close to 80,000 connections have been made between people, companies and projects,” says the spokesperson. “We’re really helping people bring their reputation online and amplify it so they can grow their business.”
