BOSTON-A South Boston developer is planning to transform an old Catholic church building on East Fourth Street into an apartment building. Jon Cronin, the restaurateur who opened the Playwright and Boston Beer Garden nearby on East Broadway, will preserve the exterior of the four-story building.

The developer will convert the former Gate of Heaven Church building at 616 East Fourth St. into 24 apartments. The cost of the project is estimated at $7 million. For the full story, go to Boston Business Journal .
