SANTA MONICA-Berkeley Point Capital has brought Alex Katz to its origination team here as a director as part of the firm’s larger expansion strategy. According to the company, the underwriting team has doubled over the past six months. Katz will be tasked with originating multifamily loans for Berkeley Point Capital.
As to the firm’s broader strategy, Mitch Clarfield, senior managing director, commented in a statement: “Our new ownership is committed to expanding the firm’s reach and the addition of such a seasoned Originator to our team is another step in this direction.”
Katz was most recently the principal of CastleRock Enterprises Inc. Among other things, he was responsible for arranging commercial real estate debt through the US. Before this position, he was managing director of Meridian Capital Group LLC’s Los Angeles office. He has also worked as a land developer for Kushner Cos. based out of Florham Park, NJ.
