Dangling Crane at One57 Secured

NEW YORK CITY-After the high winds of super-storm Sandy ravaged the Tri-State area, the operation to secure the boom of the tower crane at One57 is complete after it partially collapsed during the storm, the city’s Department of Buildings said this morning.

All streets in the immediate area of the construction site at 157 W. 57^th St. are in the process of being opened, excluding two lanes on the north side of West 57^th Street between 6^th and 7^th avenues, according to the DOB. Last week, the city ordered people in neighboring hotels and multifamily buildings to evacuate, but the DOB says in a statement that evacuated residents can reoccupy buildings in the area, but utilities in some buildings may have to be restored.
