GLENVIEW, IL-In a move to relocate headquarters from its current space in Itasca, IL, Bestview International acquired a 78,803-square-foot industrial property from Millennium LLC for $7 million. With the acquisition, Bestview International now owns a 12-year-old building that is currently 60% leased.

As such, Bestview International will occupy the middle unit of the facility, which is located at 2230-2300 Ridge Dr. The other two tenants are Andersen Windows and Design Craft.

Bestview International, represented by Michael Plumb of Lee & Associates, is a manufacturer and importer of high-grade granite, marble, onyx, travertine, slate and other materials. Bestview International is a three-time MIA Pinnacle Award winner of natural stone products and recently added kitchen and bathroom cabinetry to its services. The seller was represented by Whit Heitman, Samuel Badger and Brad Weiner of Paine/Wetzel / TCN Worldwide.

  • Knights of Columbus sold 10,083 square feet of retail space at 5660 Maybee Rd. to Steve Nawrocki. Joe Banyai and Kris Pawlowski of Signature Associates represented the seller. Joe Banyai also represented the buyer.

MUSKEGON

  • Blue Ocean Properties LLC acquired a 17,600 square foot industrial building at 418 W. Hackley. Bryan Bench, of Signature Associates represented the buyer.

YPSILANTI

  • Douglass Ellmann, Trustee for the US Bankruptcy Court sold the 128-unit Eastern Highlands Apartments at 1266 LeForge, next to Eastern Michigan University. Brendan Cavender and Jim Chaconas of Colliers International represented the seller.

AURORA

  • Magnetrol began construction on a new 250,000-square-foot headquarters facility at 705 Enterprise St. Magnetrol is relocating its headquarters from Downers Grove, IL to accommodate its growth. The company acquired the existing 250,000-square-foot building in Aurora and the project includes a significant electrical service upgrade, renovation of existing offices and an additional build-out of office, laboratory and training space. Also involved will be improvements to existing warehouse space. Krusinsky Construction is handling the build-out, with senior project manager Joe Krusinski III overseeing the project. Chenevert Architects of Baton Rouge, LA is providing architectural design services.

LIBERTYVILLE

  • Principle Construction Corp. has been selected to complete a 70,529-square-foot expansion for Laser Precision at 2400 Commerce Dr. Laser Precision selected Principle to add on to its 58,000-square-foot facility. This state-of-the-art steel processing facility will support high-speed, high-powered lasers, CNC machining centers, eight-axes press brakes and highly specialized inspection equipment. Mike Long will manage the project and Mark Frane will be the superintendent for Principle Construction Corp. Partners. In Design is providing architectural services.

  • LA Wireless Inc. leased 7,167 square feet. of industrial space at 2421 Wolcott St. Clint Confer and Paul Hoge of Signature Associates represented the landlord, Industrial Realty Inc.

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI

  • Lionel LLC leased 5,000 square feet of office space at 42560 Van Dyke Ave. Peter Walocko of Signature Associates represented the tenant. Lionel' s 49,000-square-foot headquarters in Chesterfield Township is on the market for sale.

BLOOMINGTON

  • Prime Therapeutics extended its lease for 180,000 square feet at the 8400 Tower at Normandale Lake Office Park, located at Interstate 494 and SH 100. Normandale Lake Office Park is owned by a joint venture partnership led by Equity Group Investments. The complex is leased and managed by Cushman & Wakefield/NorthMarq.

  • Colliers International has been awarded the exclusive right to sell or lease the previous 78,000-square-foot Crain’s Detroit headquarters at 1400 Woodbridge St. Randall Book, Vito Castellana and Albert Ellis will represent the landlord in the sale or lease of the property.


MISSOURI

KANSAS CITY

  • CBRE has been awarded exclusive marketing and leasing of the 650,000-square-foot City Center Square at 1100 Main St. The office building, designed by Skidmore Owings Merrill, was constructed in 1979 and is owned by Nightingale Properties. Brian Bacon and Brent Roberts will handle leasing and marketing.

MINNEAPOLIS

  • Opus AE Group Inc. announced the appointments of Dean Newins as vice president, architecture. Newins brings more than 25 years of experience in the architecture and planning industry to Opus. In his new role, Newins will work closely with Opus Development Corporation and Opus Design-Build to develop design solutions for various projects. He will also coordinate teams to produce projects that support clients’ project goals. Prior to joining Opus, Dean was a partner at OTJ Architects, a 70-person firm in Washington, DC. A LEED-accredited professional, Newins earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the New York Institute of Technology.
  • Opus AE also named Ernesto Ruiz-Garcia as senior manager, architecture. He brings more than 15 years of design experience to Opus. In his new role, Ruiz-Garciawill be responsible for leading multiple design projects and teams from initial phases through to construction documents. He will also support business development across all sectors. Ruiz-Garcia hails from HGA Architects and Engineers where he was a senior associate and managed the execution of various design projects in Minnesota and several other states. He has also taught architectural design at the University of Minnesota. A LEED-accredited professional, Ruiz-Garcia earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental design from the University of Puerto Rico and continued his education, earning a master’s in architecture from the University of Minnesota.

  • Dan McCleary has been named associate broker with Farbman Group. In his new position, McCleary is responsible for coordinating and supervising sales and leasing at a multitude of industrial properties, factory-warehouse multiuse to light manufacturing buildings and industrial parks, in and around the Detroit area. Prior to joining Farbman Group, McCleary was employed in industrial real estate sales and leasing positions with a variety of other firms. His more than 25 years of experience has included work in most areas of the commercial real estate sector, including sale-lease backs, development parcels and industrial parks.
  • Farbman Group has also named Brad Margolis as sales associate. In his new position, Margolis is responsible for coordinating and supervising sales at an array of Detroit-area office and retail properties. Prior to joining Farbman Group, Margolis was employed as a commercial real estate broker where he specialized in the leasing and sales of office and medical buildings in the greater Detroit region. Margolis previously served as an intern with Farbman Group in the company’s leasing and sales division. He is a graduate of Michigan State University where he earned a bachelor of arts with a major in advertising and specialization in sales communication.

  • The Hayman Co. named Thomas T. Schoenberger the company’s EVP. In this role, Schoenberger will provide leadership and oversight to Hayman’s property management and brokerage business units. He will also oversee the expansion of third-party property management, brokerage, construction and accounting assignments with private and institutional owners. Schoenberger most recently led Liberty Property Trust in managing more than $4 billion in assets for more than a decade.
