NEW YORK CITY-A joint venture between Global Holdings Inc. and Zeckendorf Development LLC has started work on a $500-million apartment tower within the United Nations Plaza. The 44-story tower, called 50 United Nations Plaza, will be overlooking the Manhattan skyline and the UN Headquarters.

Foster + Partners, a London-based architectural firm, is the architect behind the 87-unit apartment tower, which will be one of most environmentally friendly residential buildings in New York City.
