TRACY—Prologis Inc. recently signed a deal with Amazon.com for a 1-million-square-foot build-to-suit lease on a new distribution center here.

Prologis will build the new facility on 90 acres at Prologis Park Tracy Phase II. That project will total 2.2 million square feet with the Amazon expansion, said the San Francisco Business Times.

“We place tremendous value on our global customer relationships, and are pleased to provide Amazon with strategic distribution space in eight markets across the globe,” said Scott Lamson, president, Northwest Region, Prologis Americas.

Amazon said last fall that it planned to build distribution centers in Tracy and Patterson. The online retailer has been setting up distribution centers in California as a way to reach customers faster and offer more services such as same-day delivery.
