PEORIA, AZ—Silverado Senior Living has broken ground on a $12 million assisted living facility.

The Irvine, Calif.-based company specializes in assisted living communities for those who suffer from memory-impairing diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. Silverado's latest community will be near several medical offices and facilities in Peoria's west end, says the Phoenix Business Journal.

The 43,500-square-foot Peoria facility will be the company's second Arizona location. Silverado's other Phoenix area community is at 9410 E. Thunderbird Road in Scottsdale.

Silverado's assisted living model focuses on social aspects for residents, providing communal spaces and community events.

Presently, Silverado operates 23 communities across six states: Arizona, California, Washington, Illinois, Texas and Utah. It plans to enter Colorado next month with a new site in Denver, Shook said, followed by another in Austin opening in March.

The Peoria location is slated to open late this year or early next year.
