PALO ALTO—The developer proposing a gateway building to Silicon Valley, will need to include more public benefits than it is currently offering if it wants to sway local officials and win approval for the project. The Palo Alto City Council told a representative of the Pollock Financial Group as much Monday at a special meeting, says the Palo Alto Daily News.

"I'm concerned some of things you've listed are either in the developer's interest or are essential mitigations," Council Member Larry Klein said, according to the paper. Pollock hopes to build a four-story, 33,500-square-foot office building on a former VTA parking lot at 2755 El Camino Real.

"We're going to have to think a lot harder about what the public benefits are," Klein added.
