LOS ANGELES-GlobeSt.com has learned exclusively that Colliers International has hired Nico M. Vilgiate as an EVP in its Downtown L.A. office. The move was made as part of the firm's strategic growth plans for this year and beyond.

Vilgiate, a 19-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, will continue to specialize in tenant representation and the leasing and sales of commercial properties in his new role. Most recently a SVP with CBRE, he has been involved in transactions totaling more than 15 million square feet of commercial space and has been among the leading and most consistently productive brokers in the Greater Los Angeles market, according to Colliers' Hans Mumper, managing director for Los Angeles.

“As a consistent leader in representing tenants and landlords in both the acquisition and disposition of their office properties, [Vilgiate] will add further depth and knowledge to our already strong presence in the Downtown and Greater Los Angeles office markets,” said Mumper in a prepared statement. “Whatever the need—tenant representation, property listings, commercial investments, purchases and more—he has built a record of success as one of the leading brokers in the market.”

Under the guidance of Martin Pupil, the firm's regional managing director for Greater Los Angeles, Colliers continues to enhance its strategic presence in the office, industrial, retail and investment markets of Southern California by attracting leading brokers throughout the region and through the selective acquisition of commercial real estate companies. “The recruitment of individuals like Nico Vilgiate, who can make an immediate impact, is a good example of the type of brokers we are attracting,” said Pupil. “With a strengthening economy and other positive economic indicators, our growth surge is continuing.”

As GlobeSt.com previously reported, Colliers International's Romy Zeid and Jere Hench were presented with the Lease Transaction of Year - Peninsula Award at the NAIOP Best of the Bay Commercial Real Estate Awards Dinner in San Francisco recently. The winning transaction, which was Success Factors, an SAP Company's 116,035-square-foot lease, took the top four floors at Centennial Tower One in South San Francisco.
