BERKELEY, CA—Initial work has begun on a new building for the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum, adjacent to the campus.

The new museum and film center is being built on Center Street downtown by Plant Construction Co., should be finished in 2015, though it is not expected to open until early 2016, according to a report in the San Francisco Business Times.

It will house both the Berkeley Art Museum and the Pacific Film Archive.
