TACOMA, WA—Tacoma-based Franciscan Health System plans to expand into a new, 38,000-square-foot building in Auburn, the latest phase of the organization's growth plans.

Franciscan's Auburn announcement came on the heels of the health system opening a new building in Tacoma, reports the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Franciscan will lease 21,000 square feet from Auburn-based Latitude Development, which began construction on the two-story, mixed-use building this week. The building will be known as the Franciscan Medical Pavilion – Auburn, and will be located at 205 10th St. NE.

The project is slated for completion in October and should be ready to accept patients in November.

Franciscan will use the space for primary care and specialty clinics, including cardiology, vascular surgery, endocrinology and general surgery. The practice will also have a lab and retail pharmacy.

Donovan Brothers Inc. is the general contractor for the project. Jon Graves Architects and Planners is the project architect, while CollinsWoerman will be Franciscan's architects for tenant improvements.

The news follows Tuesday's announcement that Franciscan opened a new, 120,000 square-foot building on the St. Joseph's Hospital campus in Tacoma.
