NEW YORK CITY-As mentioned in our poll wrap-up story yesterday, the story titled “CRE Can Help Solve Climate Change” garnered several shares on Twitter. Green building, design and environmental sustainability is always a hot (and interesting!) topic, so it made sense to look to Twitter and see what other people were saying about the issue.

@CassidyTurleyRE picked up on the 49ers desire for a greener stadium with the message:

“That's awesome! RT@USGBC Touchdown! 49ers pursuing 2014 LEED cert stadium: http://bit.ly/Yeax7S via @greentechmedia #football"

@BldgOpMgmt shared a story about the military's propensity to green:

“ICYMI last week: Military upholds #LEED as its green building and energy efficiency standard: http://ow.ly/hRl0v"

@SustainableCities followed the trend, sharing the information:

"By using LEED, the Department of Defense is able to cut costs responsibly" says@ USGBC - http://ow.ly/hLqCB"

And @gbnyc presented the LEED-specific news:

"The historic Printing Crafts Building - 5 Penn Plaza - has earned dualLEED-EB and Energy Star designations."

As you can see, picking a topic and following it on Twitter can unearth a wealth of information about a particular topic or sector. Want to learn about a Twitter-specific theme? Email [email protected] with your suggestions or leave a comment below.
