CHICAGO, IL- Englewood Construction, a Lemont-based construction firm has just announced four projects across the Midwest, including three in Chicago and, in Columbus, Ohio, a new 12,832 SF American Girl store, their eighth.
“American Girl holds a special place for Englewood Construction,” said William Di Santo, the firm's president, in a prepared statement. “Our completion in 2008 of American Girl's flagship 53,000-square-foot store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago became a springboard for us into many other retail projects.”
Also on line for Englewood this year is finishing 20,000 SF of prep work for the Saks Fifth Avenue store in the Fashion Outlets of Chicago, a new 530,000 SF center in Rosemont which will open on August 1.
“Nationwide, the retail industry is really watching the construction of Fashion Outlets of Chicago because it's breaking the mold in both location and world-class design,” Di Santo said. “Unlike most retail outlets set out in cornfields, this one is smack dab in the middle of activity – near O'Hare Airport, convention centers, hotels and next to Rosemont's wildly popular new entertainment district.”
In addition, the firm has begun remodeling two locations for the boutique grocery store outlet Trader Joe's. Both, including a 15,000 SF store at 1147 S. Wabash in the South Loop and a 4,500 SF store at 1840 N. Clybourn Ave., are located in neighborhood with robust retail sectors.
“There have been new players entering Chicago's grocery sector, such as Mariano's, so it's smart of Trader Joe's to continue to update and refresh its stores to stay current with shopper's demands,” Di Santo said. “On a whole, we're definitely seeing more work from grocery stores, so it's shaping up to be one of the most popular construction arenas in 2013.”
