HILLSBORO, OR—Salesforce.com has decided to build its new Oregon offices in suburban Hillsboro instead of Portland. The site selected is in the twin-building Synopsys complex, where Salesforce will renovate the building which has been vacant since its construction 12 years ago.
The rapidly-growing San Francisco CRM/Cloud tech specialist began looking for an expansion site last year and picked Oregon over Salt Lake City. Company reps told The Oregonian this week Denver and Austin, TX, had also been considered.
Portland is the nexus of Oregon's software economy, with a startups clustered around the Pearl District and downtown.
The Oregon Business Journal reported that Salesforce chose the 100,000 square foot suburban location to provide more space for employee amenities including a gourmet kitchen and dog-care.
