The Gateway at Summerset's site overlooks the Monongahela River in

Squirrel Hill. The community has been designed with a traditional neighborhood look, including sidewalks and lawns, but it is set within minutes of

Pittsburgh's business and cultural centers, universities, and hospitals.

“The appeal of suburban upscale living in the city is what led us to develop The

Gateway at Summerset,” said Mark Dambly of Pennrose. “The

community offers residents the charm of a small-town, while positioned just a

short drive to downtown Pittsburgh's nightlife, entertainment and restaurants.”

The apartments have 9-foot ceilings, open floor plans, a custom-paint

program, stainless steel appliances, breakfast bars, programmable thermostats,

balconies, walk-in closets, and a full-sized washer and dryer in every

unit.

The development's amenities include a community center with catering kitchen, fitness center, pool, playground and a half basketball court, as well as small parks and walking trails.

The property was co-developed by Ralph A. Falbo, who has created more than 4,100 units in the region. Philadelphia-based Pennrose is a major developer of both market-rate and affordable housing in the eastern United States.
