MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA-The Village at San Antonio Center, a signature gateway to Mountain View offering an exciting new place to live, work and shop, recently revised plans for Phase II of the development, complementing the Phase I component that is nearly complete.

Phase I will include Safeway, Counter Custom Burgers, Fidelity Investments, Starbucks, Blue White Cleaners, plus newly-announced retailers Jared's Jewelers, LYFE Kitchen restaurant and Sleep Number as the project builds a mix of businesses new to the area, or expanding from nearby locations. Following Carmel the Village Apartments' recent opening, Safeway will open its new flagship store on Friday, April 19th.

According to project sponsor Merlone Geier Partners, the Village's Phase II includes 500,000 square of office space, a 165 room hotel, an eight screen cinema complex, and street-level restaurants and shopping integrated with Phase I. That500,000 square feet of office, GlobeSt.com has learned, breaks down to 400,000 square feet in two buildings being marketed by Cassidy Turley, and also includes 100,000 square feet for planned future development.

“The Village is really beginning to take shape as the unique and vibrant community we first envisioned—an active, walkable, and bike-friendly place that fits the City's General Plan to put jobs, retail and housing closer to Caltrain and existing commercial areas,” says Mike Grehl, VP of Merlone Geier. The Village at San Antonio Center site, located on approximately 20 acres bounded by El Camino Real, San Antonio Road and California Street, is three blocks from Caltrain.

“We've designed it to be a thriving community where it's fun to shop and dine, or catch up with friends or go for a walk,” he adds. “With the large plaza in Phase II, the park in Phase I and a number of pocket-plazas and meeting areas, The Village offers several acres of open gathering space as well as a vibrant mixed-use destination.”

According to a prepared statement, the Phase II plans reflect months of community input involving hundreds of residents attending meetings or posting online. One of the key changes is that Phase II building heights range from four to six stories, much lower than earlier plans, he says, with taller structures located away from the residential neighborhood across California Street.
