PORTLAND, OR—Schnitzer Steel Industries has leased 42,000 sf of office space at the KOIN Center in downtown Portland for its headquarters. NAI Norris, Beggs & Simpson President Chris Johnson and Vice President MaryKay West represented the tenant.

The company is currently headquartered in two different spaces: at Montgomery Park and at the 3200 Yeon Building. The new space, on KOIN Center's third and fourth floors, will accommodate all of Schnitzer Steel's several hundred local employees.

"Schnitzer Steel's move to the CBD, which enables them to consolidate their Portland office, will provide many opportunities for increased efficiency and collaboration," Johnson said. "Additionally, customers will benefit from easy access, and employees will enjoy the numerous amenities and transit options in the surrounding area."

The Schnitzer lease brings the 35-story KOIN Center's occupancy to about 92 percent.

"It's always very exciting to have a high quality, home-grown company choose to locate in our downtown, and Schnitzer's presence will lead to increased activity and vitality in the south end of the CBD," West said.
