WARSAW, Poland—Europa Centralna, a 220,000 square foot (67 000 m2) shopping center in Silesia, southern Poland, is now open. More than 100,000 customers attended the opening weekend, March 1-3 for the first phase of the project developed by Helical Poland. The project is a joint venture with clients of Standard Life Investments.

Europa Centralna (Central Europe) is a regional shopping development, located at the interchange of the A1 and A4 motorways in southern Poland and an estimated 5 million customers within a one hour drive.

The scheme is a first in Poland offering a combination of high quality shopping mall and retail park in a single location with 120 gallery shops and retail park units, together with 2,300 parking spaces. The development is now 80% leased with tenants that include Tesco Extra, Castorama, Media Saturn, New Yorker, H&M, Bershka, RTV Euro AGD, and McDonalds. It also includes a playground for children.
