ISSAQUAH, WA—Costco Wholesale Corp. is negotiating with local officials over a plan to add up to 1.5 million square feet to its corporate headquarters.

The Puget Sound Business Journal quoted the city's Development Director Keith Niven, in reporting the story.

“They are trying to chart a path for their future,” Niven said. “They want a stable location for their headquarters.”

The Journal said a Costco spokesman declined to comment on company's plans for its headquarters.

Costco's headquarters are located in Pickering Place, a 1.7 million-square-foot mixed-use development that includes a Costco store. The current master plan for Pickering Place dates back to 1987.
