AUSTIN, TX—The Austin City Council plans to vote next week on a special measure to reconcile city code with a Dec. 10 Texas Attorney General opinion stating that the city was expiring proposed developments too early.

The new proposal calls for a five-year period before ordinances are revokes for inactivity., reports the Austin Business Journal. In some cases developers have three years to make significant progress on projects. The changes would also remove a clause that expires a project application if all of the permits expire. The council plans to vote on the ordinance March 21, and the changes would take effect immediately.
