NEW YORK CITY-Nearly 700 CoreNet Global NYC members and their guests gathered Thursday evening at an iconic venue, the American Museum of Natural History, for the organization's annual dinner.
The evening—at which GlobeSt.com was a sponsor—began in the Theodore Roosevelt Rotunda, also known as the museum's grand entrance. Cocktails and appetizers were served in the dramatic space, made particularly interesting by a dinosaur exhibit in the room's center that depicts a representation of an imagined altercation between some of the animals. The room also has inspirational elements, including quotes on the wall from Roosevelt as well as three large canvases depicting pivotal moments in the late President's life.
Attendees were also able to stroll through the adjacent Hall of North American Mammals, where real estate professionals and their clients networked and relaxed alongside bears, tigers, elephants and many other animals. Several guests were heard saying they felt like they were in the movie, “Night at the Museum.”
From there, the group was shepherded into the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life to enjoy dinner under the museum's famed giant blue whale, and amid dioramas of sea life. Of course, some guests might have gone home hungry as they seemingly never sat down. Instead, they strolled through the room to say hello to old friends and make new acquaintances. A dessert reception followed the dinner.
The evening successfully brought CoreNet members and guests together for an enjoyable and productive time, says chapter chairman Lou Nowikas, senior director of corporate real estate and facilities planning at Hearst. “Our chapter's annual dinner has become one of the most anticipated events in the New York real estate community, and this year's festivity was truly electric,” he says. “One of our organization's mandates is to bring outstanding real estate professionals together to exchange ideas and learn from one another.
“This year's dinner reflected the vibrancy of our membership and the value of a strong industry network,” he says. “It was a terrific evening that will be long remembered.”
