LOS ANGELES-Todd Richardson has been appointed SVP of business development for locally based DTZ, a UGL company. He will serve in the firm's Americas Facilities Management business unit in Boston, which represents $1 billion in annual gross revenue throughout the US and Canada.

Richardson, who most recently served as SVP of integrated facility management sales for ABM Industries, will report to George Keches, DTZ's global president of facilities management. In his previous position, Richardson led a North America sales team, which consistently produced strong organic growth for the past decade. During his tenure at ABM, he helped secure contracts with some of the leading commercial, industrial, financial institutions as well as governments in North America including JP Morgan Chase, BMW, Gannett, the State of California and many others.

“Todd will be tasked with significantly expanding our Americas facilities business and driving transformational and complex facility solutions to our largest clients who demand innovation, technology and global subject matter expertise,” said Keches in a prepared statement.

Richardson will also work closely with DTZ's Global Corporate Services and brokerage teams in the Americas to provide full-service facilities management, transaction, project-management and strategic solutions for both private-sector and government clients who require an “end-to-end” delivery model.

As GlobeSt.com reported last week, DTZ has released its 16th annual Global Occupancy Costs-Offices survey and found that costs for office space in Asia and the United States were trending in very different directions. North Asian costs increased by 6.3% but American costs went down by 10.9%. The primary driver of that decline was the search by American tenants for greater efficiencies in the workplace. Employers have generally found that younger workers especially don't need or want as much space as their elders.
