SAN FRANCISCO-Those who follow @GlobeStcom on Twitter and @GlobeStLIVE may have seen a post teasing the announcement, but GlobeSt.com has learned that property management specialist Roger Bilstad joins Avison Young in San Francisco to lead its property management services operations in Northern California.

As GlobeSt.com recently reported, the firm has been on a big growth spurt lately. The firm just recently revealed that it had opened a new office in San Diego, the firm's 22nd market outside of Canada. Chair and CEO, Mark Rose, called the addition a 'step in the firm's ongoing aggressive growth and expansion strategy.”

In addition, the firm seems to have been on a hiring spree this year, with the recent addition of a senior level broker from Cushman & Wakefield in the NYC office. Adam Rappaport, who served at Cushman for 13 years, most recently as senior director, was hired earlier this month as a principal at the firm. In addition, Avison Young hired John Ryan III away from Jones Lang LaSalle back in February.

Effective immediately, Bilstad joins Avison Young as EVP of real estate management services, Northern California. He will be responsible for the growth, management and development of the full-service property management and facilities management platforms for the Northern California region.

Bilstad brings more than 30 years of experience providing leadership and high-performance solutions to private capital, institutional and public-sector clients. After spending 17 years building and guiding his own firm into Sacramento's largest privately-held commercial property management company, Bilstad and his partner sold their firm to Colliers International.

This Sacramento office became one of Colliers' most successful offices, according to a prepared statement. “As one of the firm's senior executives with local, regional and national responsibilities, Bilstad also created the lease administration platform, regional accounting hub and facility practice focused on corporate headquarters management. He will be implementing the same strategy for Avison Young,” says the statement.

According to Bilstad, Avison Young's “innovative, client-focused business” was a draw. “Too often today, we see firms looking inward, versus the Avison Young principle of intelligent partnerships that result in extraordinary client experiences.”

Bilstad, a San Francisco native, is a certified property manager through the Institute of Real Estate Management, and a member of the Building Owners and Managers Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He holds a BA degree in Education from California State University-Sacramento.
