CHICAGO, IL- J.C. Anderson, Inc. has announced that DePaul University has selected them to reconstruct a vacant building into the new headquarters for the university's College of Education. The 50,000-square-foot building at 2247 N. Halsted in Lincoln Park was recently vacated by Children's Memorial Hospital as it moved to its new home in Streeterville. DePaul has a master plan to remake its Lincoln Park campus and modernize many of the major buildings it has scattered across the North Side neighborhood.
J.C. Anderson specializes in interior construction and has offices in Chicago and suburban Elmhurst. The firm's Steve Boulukos will lead the project and Vasilko & Architects Associates will provide architectural services.
The education college will relocate from other nearby offices into new multi-purpose classrooms, conference rooms and tutoring rooms. J.C. Anderson will also construct additional space for counseling and faculty offices, as well as a personal computer lab. They expect to finish the reconstruction this summer.
The new college will join other completed Lincoln Park developments, such as the $7.8 million DePaul Art Museum at 935 W. Fullerton. That opened in September 2011 and the new four-story, $33 million Arts and Letters Hall, located on the corner of W. Belden and N. Kenmore, was dedicated on Jan. 11, 2012.
