The "Great Recession" of 2008 – 2009 produced a bumper-crop of extraordinarily talented, accomplished, and, independent real estate consultants. Collectively they were (and still are) among the best and the brightest talent who were caught-up in the challenges of a dislocated job market. The conundrum that these professionals experience is how to deal with medical insurance coverage and other benefits that are standard for "employees". An article this past weekend had a feature in the reporting on the Freelancers Union that provides collective medical insurance and other benefits that are provided at a price that would otherwise not be available to "independent" professionals.
