MINNEAPOLIS- Digital Realty Trust, Inc. announced this week that they had completed the acquisition of an advanced data center at 1500 Tower View Road in Eagan, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis. The transaction was a sale-leaseback with Delta Air Lines, which signed an eight-year, triple-net-lease with Digital Realty. The purchase price was $37 million.

The three-level, 329,000-square-foot center, which includes 39 acres of land, has approximately 86,000-square-feet of raised-floor data center space capable of supporting an IT load of 8.0 megawatts.

The purchase helps continue what had been an active year for the San Francisco-based firm. In February, GlobeSt.com reported that Digital Realty's lease commencements in 2012 “generated approximately $134.9 million in annualized GAAP rental revenue, up 35% over 2011 lease commencements.”

"The acquisition of Towerview further expands our footprint in a key U.S. market and deepens our relationship with an existing customer--a major commercial airline with an extensive domestic and international network," says Michael F. Foust, chief executive officer of Digital Realty. Scott Peterson, the chief acquisitions officer, adds that "we are beginning to see more enterprise customers, such as Delta, looking to Digital Realty to help them monetize their real estate assets while continuing to support their critical operations with a well-capitalized, long-term data center owner."
