HOUSTON-After months of waiting, Midway Cos. recently unveiled a new name and concept for the former Houston Pavilions. Going forward, the 568,294-square-foot, mixed-use CBD property will be called GreenStreet.

The Houston Business Journal reports that construction changes and upgrades will soon be underway on the property at 1201 Fannin St. Work will include removal of existing implements in the project's interior corridor and creation of a new urban park. Construction is set to begin this month, with completion scheduled within the next six to nine months. The HBJ notes that the project will remain open during construction.

GreenStreet/Houston Pavilions got its start in 2007, when developer Houston Pavilions LP launched construction on the retail, office and entertainment site. It was originally touted as a cornerstone of downtown's resurgence. The project became a victim of the Great Recession, however, and went into receivership. Midway Cos. partnered with Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds to acquire the project in August, 2012.
