NEWARK-Four recent leases at the Military Park building in Newark have brought The Berger Organization's commercial real estate property to 100% occupancy.
The 88-year-old landmark building at 60 Park Place houses a total of 250,000 square feet. Berger's in-house team, headed by Brendan Berger, negotiated the latest transactions.
The four new tenants include:
- Newark Mentoring Movement, a coalition of youth mentoring programs, taking 1,200 square feet.
- African Methodist Episcopal Church, Office of Ecumenical and Urban Affairs, 1,000 square feet.
- MB Properties real estate, 600 square feet.
- Sunsoft Services, IT consulting, 525 square feet.
Berger said the full-occupancy milestone for the Military Park Building is part and parcel of a livelier market downtown. “Tenant activity here and at our other Newark office properties, new corporate development, local hotel construction, and the continued evolution of Newark's cultural and entertainment scene are creating a notable momentum,” he said.
The 21-story office tower has parking, a fitness center, conference facilities, and onsite ownership and management. The building has views of the surrounding city, New York skyline and Military Park, where a multi-million-dollar renovation is set to launch this spring.
It is within walking distance to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Penn Station, which provides 20-minute NJ Transit and PATH service to Midtown and downtown Manhattan.
Aaron Martin, executive director of Newark Mentoring Movement said the building an office that “perfectly fits our needs as a small startup.” His organization has the backing of Mayor Cory Booker and media personality Michael Strahan.
