IRVINE, CA-As GlobeSt.com reported earlier today, Auction.com has promoted Jake Seid to co-president, sharing oversight of day-to-day operations for the online real estate marketplace with James Corum, co-president. Seid was also the driver behind establishing the firm's presence in its new Silicon Valley office and “the strong executive talent we've recruited there,” according to Jeff Frieden, co-founder and Co-CEO of Auction.com.

The new office, located in Belmont, CA, aims to tap the talent pool in Silicon Valley. Among the company's key hires in the Bay Area include its CFO Bruce Felt, previously CFO of SuccessFactors; chief technology officer Ravi Keswani, formerly VP of engineering at Betfair and Coupons.com; VP of data products Sheridan Hitchens, previously with Kabam; VP of customer experience David Sterm, who was formerly with Electronic Arts and eBay; VP and deputy general counsel Mindy Heppberger, previously deputy general counsel of Yahoo!; and head of product Kate Hannah, previously with Betfair and an early employee of its predecessor company.

“We established a Silicon Valley presence to attract the top-tier talent we need to drive our strategy to revolutionize the online sale of commercial and residential assets,” said Seid in a prepared statement.

As GlobeSt.com previously reported, the competition for talent has become fierce in certain western markets, including the Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Orange County.

Auction.com is striving to transform the way real estate is bought and sold through a more efficient and transparent process that maximizes the value or real estate assets in the sales process. Its Silicon Valley technology and product teams are building the company's next-generation platform, products and services to support the firm's scaling domestic and international businesses. The Silicon Valley office will also be home to key team members across marketing, finance and legal.
