MENLO PARK, CA—Developer John Arrillaga and Stanford University are scaling back a plan to develop an 8-acre mixed use complex, due in part to community concerns.

According to a report at Palo Alto Online, the university's managing director for development, Steve Elliott communicated with city officials Wednesday, describing the plans to scale back the project.

These include: reducing office space from 96,000 to 25,000 square feet; cutting the total space from 229,500 to 199,500 square feet; adding 22 apartments for a total of 170; reduction from three car lanes to two in the public plaza, and the inclusion there of a pedestrian-bike path.
