CORPUS CHRISTI, TX- T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods have signed leases at the 200,000-square-foot Shops at La Palmera. The two retailers, scheduled to open during fall 2013, will be the first in the city.
Construction has begun on the 44,750-square-foot space that will accommodate the stores, which will be adjacent to each other. The stores will have separate entrances, though shoppers will be able to move freely between the two stores once they enter.
“We are pleased at the caliber of retailers we continue to bring to The Shops at La Palmera,” says Terry Montesi, chairman and CEO of Fort Worth-based Trademark Property Co., owner of Shops at La Palmera. “T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods are leaders in providing a rapidly changing assortment of value priced quality merchandise and they will be a welcome addition to the retail mix in the Corpus Christi.”
Overall renovation and construction work continues at the Shops at La Palmera. Construction is also underway on the recently announced Dick's Sporting Goods, which is also set to open this fall. Construction will soon be wrapping up on Corner Bakery, which has a planned June 2013 opening.
The new design of the property will complement that of Trademark's La Palmera, a 1-million-square-foot super regional mall located across from The Shops at La Palmera. La Palmera underwent a two-year $50 million renovation after Trademark and Institutional Mall Investors LLC purchased the property in 2008.
