HOUSTON-The Houston Business Journal reports that NewFirst National Bank, headquartered in El Campo, TX, wants to push further into Houston. To that end, the company is interested in opening three Houston-based branches and wants to hire three-to-five commercial lenders in Oil City proper.
The Business Journal says NewFirst likes Houston's lending atmosphere, and wants to focus on manufacturing, distribution and port-service companies. The bank already has a location in northwest Houston, which lends to the local commercial real estate market (other locations are around the Houston area, such as in Rosenberg and Sugar Land, TX). The recent hire of Chad Disch (who formerly worked for Trustmark National Bank) means more of a push into commercial and industrial lending, the article notes.
