BELMONT, CA-Here in the Silicon Valley, there is an unprecedented amount of talent when it comes to the technology sector. In the case of Auction.com, that is truly vital. For this reason, they have opened an office here, in the area, with Co-President Jake Seid heading up operations. He tells GlobeSt.com about the importance of making this move and how his role at the firm is changing about the trends in the commercial real estate auctio sector.
GlobeSt.com: What was the attraction to opening an office in the Silicon Valley?
Jake Seid: We're the leading online real estate marketplace in the country, and as an online company, there is deep talent in Silicon Valley around engineering, product management and digital marketing so the goal was to tap into that by opening an office in the area. It will allow us to deliver more features and functionality for the buyers, sellers and agents that use the site. These are products that can support, from a real estate standpoint, everything from residential to commercial, domestic and international.
GlobeSt.com: How will your responsibilities change at the firm?
Seid: I was responsible for engineering, product management, marketing, and our C2C business previously. In the new role, I now have sharedresponsibility for all day-to-day operations of the company.
GlobeSt.com: What is ahead for Auction.com over the next year?
Seid: We really think of our platform as an online marketplace. It's really where buyers, sellers and agents can get together in a much more efficient and transparent transaction. Some of the trends we see happening are increased functionality of the Web site, improved mobile functionality and better data and analytics for our customers and partners. Research is a recent part of the Web site that we launched as part of the acquisition of Maximus Advisors, along with relaunching our blog.
GlobeSt.com: You have made more of an effort to get more owners and sellers involved. How is that going?
Seid: We've seen a great response from owners with portfolios as well as individual asset owners. It's an opportunity for owners to sell for more and sell faster using the power of the Internet. As we've seen in many areas, the Internet is a powerful too for bringing buyers and sellers together and allowing everyone to have a better experience.
