CHARLOTTE, NC-An affiliate of Exter Property Group has acquired the 8740 Research Drive office building in Universal City from an affiliate of Highwoods Properties for $6 million.

The vacant, 150,000-square-foot Class B building was formerly occupied by Wells Fargo & Co., which shifted operations at the building to nearby Innovation Park, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.

Ralph Kittrell, a principal with Exeter, says the building will receive a complete refacing. Other improvements include new lobbies, new mechanical systems and gutting and renovating the existing space.

Renovations are expected to be finished by the fourth quarter. See story in the Charlotte Business Journal.
