EL SEGUNDO, CA-Murad Inc., a global skin care brand, will spend $35 million to develop a new 45,000-square-foot global headquarters.

The new building will be at 2121 Park Place here, two blocks from the company's current location at 2141 Rosecrans Ave. Murad will move in early next year and has signed a 12-year lease for the new building.

Murad was founded in 1989 by Dr. Howard Murad, a dermatologist, pharmacist and UCLA professor. The company's products are sold in more than 40 countries.

The company was represented by Jon Zuckerman and David Kluth of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in this transaction.

“We are excited to have signed the lease to our new custom-designed office space where we will be able to meet the needs of our growth plans as well as honor our commitment to provide our valued employees with a spectacular, creative work environment, which is being designed to fit our specific requirements,” said a statement from Richard Murad, general manager of Murad, Inc. “This is a testament to our confidence in the company, our brand and our dedication to continue to innovate and exceed the expectations of our customers.”

Murad's Inclusive Health Spa in nearby Manhattan Beach will remain in its current location. The entire 7,000-square-foot space will be upgraded to accommodate a fitness/yoga center and improve its treatment rooms and retail section. The new version of the spa will expand its service offerings.

The broker for the transaction said the new building will be a key to redevelopment in the area.

“Murad's new global headquarters relocation is a bold step that significantly increases its local visibility and anchors the transformation of buildings along Park Place in El Segundo,” said a statement from David Kluth, executive managing director of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. “When completed, Murad's recognizable brand will be a focal point of the Rosecrans Corridor and an inspiration for further innovative re-development of nearby properties."

As reported earlier by GlobeSt.com, Murad bought a 57,343-square-foot warehouse two years ago to expand its distribution operations.
