SAN ANTONIO-In its efforts to provide space for companies involved with the Eagle Ford Shale play, National Property Holdings LP of Houston introduced plans to develop the 400-acre Alamo Junction Rail Park. The purpose of the business park, situated in Bexar County, just south of San Antonio, is to provide rail-served commercial real estate to oilfield service and supply companies requiring rail logistics service.
The project's first phase calls for more than 22,000 linear feet of track, which would accommodate manifest and unit train traffic. According to a press release from NPH, daily rail service, operated by Rail Logix, is scheduled to begin Q3 of 2013 and will ultimately interchange with both the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroads.
“We've been exploring opportunities to acquire rail-served land tracts around San Antonio for over a year now, and I'm excited about the distinct advantages our rail park will offer users," says Michael Plank, president of National Property Holdings in a press release. "The park is well-suited for transloading and other rail-based logistics activities. Feedback so far has been tremendous."
Rail Logix, an affiliate of National Property Holdings, also has operations in the 300-acre Port Crossing Commerce Center logistics park in LaPorte, TX and the 723-acre Rail Logix Ameriport, located in Baytown, TX.
Representatives from National Property Holdings did not return a phone call or email requesting an interview before deadline.
