There are conferences and then there are conferences, and there's no doubt that ICSC RECon falls into the latter category. For those in the commercial real estate industry, this is THE event for all curious about retail. Add its location, Las Vegas, to the mix, and you have the recipe for a pretty insane event.
While everyone has their own ways of making last-minute decisions, or weighing in on the panels and parties, looking to Twitter for inspiration is one way to stay organized. And how?
Simple. Tag your tweets.
If you think you'll be missing an important event, or there's a party better than the poolside spectacle by which you're standing, chances are you can find out about it on Twitter. This handy, instantaneous form of communication can really prove its worth at a major event like ICSC RECon. Anyone and everyone will have an opinion and chances are, they'll share it over Twitter, rather than over a couple of cocktails. Many of them will tag their tweets. But why?
Adding an event –specific hashtag to a tweet makes it searchable and relevant. And since the social media folks at ICSC have done such a commendable job of using and promoting the hashtag, most people now readying to attend have seen it.
