IRVING, TX—Student housing closely tracks the conventional multifamily market when it comes to performance metrics. So while rent growth expectations have significantly come down, Preiss Co.'s founder and CEO, Donna Preiss, believes the sector has “a significant runway” in front of it.

In a recent interview with GlobeSt.TV, Preiss, who is also one of Real Estate Forum's Student Housing Pioneers, shared her insight on:

  • The increased competition in the sector
  • The development pipeline and construction costs
  • The growth of pedestrian-friendly projects since the recession
  • What might happen with rental rates in the near term
