GRANADA HILLS, CA–Construction has been completed on the redevelopment of a 225,000-square foot neighborhood center.

The $18.5-million redevelopment project upgraded the Granada Village shopping center, built in 1965. It now features a modern Spanish colonial style that was designed by Nadel Architects. Granada Village is owned by Regency Centers. They were not immediately available for comment.

The project is located at 10823 Zelzah Ave. and is anchored by TJ Maxx. It includes Stein Mart, Rite Aid, Sally Beauty Supply, the UPS Store, H&R Block, Burger King and RadioShack. The redesign will add Sprouts Farmers Market, HomeGoods, Freebirds World Burrito, Zankou Chicken, Presto Pasta, Gatten Sushi and Pieology.

“Our design updated the center's shopping environment, helping to attract a number of new tenants,” said Greg Palaski, managing principal of Nadel Architects and the project director. Nadel's redesign included a new exterior façade, upgraded architectural components, new signage and parking lot improvements. Nadel also incorporated an al fresco dining area near the front of the center with connected patios and trellised seating. They also incorporated stacked stone and earth tones into the redesign.

Nadel has worked on a variety of similar redevelopment and expansion projects recently, including Heritage Plaza in Irvine, the Village at Nellie Gale Ranch in Laguna Hills and Moorpark Town Center in Moorpark.

As reported earlier by GlobeSt.com, Regency Centers recruited Jones Lang LaSalle to help with leasing at three North County San Diego shopping centers.
