Oakland Port System Gets SoCal Leader

OAKLAND, CA-J. Christopher Lytle, Port of Long Beach executive director since November 2011, will resign to take the top post at the Port of Oakland. Lytle will remain at Long Beach until mid-July, and is expected to begin his new job in Oakland shortly thereafter.

The Port of Long Beach hasn’t yet identified who will be the next executive director as of yet, but according to a prepared statement, a top priority for the Port is “the stability and continuity of leadership.” Before Lytle’s departure, the Board of Harbor Commissioners will name an interim executive director. The Port tells GlobeSt.com that it will begin discussion on an interim appointment and the recruitment of Chris’ successor at the next board meeting June 3.
