SAN FRANCISCO-As GlobeSt.com previously reported Mayor Edwin M. Lee just recently celebrated the successful bid to host Super Bowl 50 in 2016 in the San Francisco Bay Area in partnership with the San Francisco 49ers and the Super Bowl Bid Committee. The 2016 Super Bowl game will be held at the new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara and will bring hundreds of millions of dollars in economic impact to the entire Bay Area, according to Mayor Lee.

“The new stadium should have a stimulating effect on the local marketplace,” Phil Mahoney, EVP of Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank, tells GlobeSt.com. “Not only will it create a 'buzz' as did AT&T Park in San Francisco, but the surrounding retail, convention center, hotels and additional development will act as another draw to an already well thought of location for Silicon Valley companies.”

Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce and Convention-Visitors Bureau president and CEO Steve Van Dorn said in a prepared statement that he expects a “huge surge in hotel occupancy for the entire region for the week the Super Bowl is here. Overall, the economic impact will be in the millions.”

In celebrating the announcement of hosting the Superbowl, San Francisco philanthropist Daniel Lurie, director of the Bay Area's bid committee, said in a prepared statement that the stadium is “going to be state of the art. You're going to be able to have Wi-Fi go to every single device, 75,000 fans will have instantaneous Wi-Fi – it's never been done before. It's going to be a fan experience like no other and that's a testament to the Niners organization for building that.”
