MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA-NASA and the General Services Administration have issued a request for proposals for the historic, high-profile site near Mountain View, the Silicon Valley Business Journal reports.

The request was expected following a March announcement that the government would seek to lease out the property. The Journal says this presents an opportunity redevelop Hangar One, a massive former blimp garage. The building's whose toxic siding was removed last year, and it has not been covered.

So the government is looking at two lease options, both of which would require the lessee to rehabilitate Hangar One. Google executives have long had an offer on the table to re-skin the hangar but have not gotten a deal from NASA.
