The digital revolution continues to slay industry victim after industry victim; books and bookstores, newspapers, camera film, travel agents, records & CD's, yellow pages, and the list goes on and on. Yesterday it claimed its newest victim when National Envelope Corp began the process of filing for bankruptcy protection. Over the weekend I read an article about the company's obvious plight, fewer and fewer of us are using envelopes. In my desk drawer at home I noted a box of envelopes that I purchased about 8 years ago, and I doubt that I have used 5 of the 500 envelopes. Then I pondered that I had switched all of my bills to auto pay and thus ended my receipt of paper statements in National Envelopes. Alas, I am going to miss those envelopes, safe, sane, secure and free from government intervention.
